In 2018, an auction at Sotheby’s broke every possible record with bottle of the ultra-rare vintage 1945 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Grand Cru from Burgundy. It was sold for $558,000! The highest bid for its bottle fetched 17 times more expensive than the auctioneer’s upper estimate of $32,000. Second place takes Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon(1992), Napa Valley, sold for $500,000.
