US Stocks Rose Led by Nasdaq, Markets Driven Higher by Record-Breaking Nvidia
The Dow Jones index, which includes stocks of 30 leading American companies, gained 0.20 percent and closed at 53,569.44 points. The broader S&P 500 index rose 0.72 percent to 7,730.99 points, and the Nasdaq Composite index, which includes many advanced technology companies, increased 1.57 percent to 26,541.35 points.
Nvidia more than doubled its profit and revenue in the second quarter and released an outlook that met investors’ high expectations. Its shares added 8.7 percent at the close. Nvidia’s results reinforced the conviction that the growth trend in the technology sector can continue, Reuters agency reported.

Dollar Unchanged: Markets Await Key Speech by Fed Chair in Jackson Hole
The US dollar is largely unchanged following a series of statistics. Markets are waiting for Friday’s speech by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh at the central bankers’ meeting in Jackson Hole.
The dollar index, which tracks the dollar’s performance against a basket of six major world currencies, was unchanged at 99.16 points shortly before 10:00 PM CEST. The euro against the dollar was down 0.02 percent at 1.1649 USD at the same time. Against the Japanese yen, the dollar gained 0.1 percent to 159.42 JPY.
