The Kingdom of Norway could supply around 122 billion cubic metres of natural gas to European Union states this year . The Nordic country had already become the largest supplier of this commodity to Europe’s 27 at the end of last year.

Norway increases gas production

“I expect that we are able to maintain the current level of mining until 2030. We see projects and plans for further development, so we can also benefit in subsequent years at current high levels,” the Norwegian minister described to Reuters aftermining and energy Terje Aasland.

The Nordic country will extract around 122 billion cubic meters of gas this year, which is about eight percent more than last year. And it will very likely do so to beat the record volume of mining from 2015. The vast majority of Norway’s gas goes to European Union countries.

Norway largest supplier of gas to Europe

Moreover, Norway had already become the largest supplier of gas to Europe’s 27 at the end of last year. By contrast , the volume of gas from Russia has been steadily declining since the start of its military aggression in Ukraine. In July, the European Union took only about a third of the volume from Russia compared to last July.
