Anthropic heads to Nasdaq under the symbol ANT. Revenue growth comes with an astronomical loss
The company behind the Claude chatbot plans to begin trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol ANT, according to a document the firm filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Anthropic had already filed a confidential application for its stock market listing back in June. According to the document, the lead coordinators of Anthropic’s initial public offering are the investment banks Goldman Sachs Group and Morgan Stanley. The document reveals that shares in the IPO are being offered by both Anthropic itself and some of its existing shareholders. The number of shares on offer will be disclosed in a later filing.
In the filing, Anthropic reports a net loss of $80.7 billion (CZK 1.76 trillion) on revenue of $16.3 billion for the first half of this year. By comparison, in the same period last year, the net loss stood at $13 billion with revenue of $1.2 billion. The company has so far focused primarily on corporate customers. Its net revenue retention rate, which measures the ability to retain existing customers and gradually increase revenue from them, stands at 900 percent, according to the document. Anthropic stated that in the third quarter of this year, 79 percent of its revenue came from customers outside its top five largest accounts.

Anthropic aims to beat SpaceX’s record. But plans for a giant IPO are being held back by safety concerns
The company wants to tap into the substantial financial capacity of public capital markets to stay ahead of its competitors. AI developers are spending hundreds of billions of dollars to further refine what are known as frontier AI models — the most advanced artificial intelligence systems.
According to earlier reports from Bloomberg, Anthropic could begin officially promoting its initial public offering as soon as the week of November 9. People familiar with the matter say the company expects the size of the offering to match, or possibly exceed, the record-setting IPO of SpaceX. At the same time, Anthropic and its rival OpenAI are facing growing public criticism over AI safety. This is due to a series of widely publicized hacking incidents involving autonomous agents acting without authorization. These events are raising concerns about a potential impact on Anthropic’s stock market debut.
