Interview with Peter Sumer, the CEO of BitMarkets, on the trends in assets tokenization

This year’s Crypto Expo Dubai marked a milestone in turning a cryptocurrency and blockchain geeks event into convention of wide public, mainly traders, investors, and other experts to discuss the trends of this young industry.

More than 10,000 participants have ignited a unique atmosphere of expectation, inspiration and business energy.

Peter Sumer has drawn attention with his discussion contribution on the future of tokenized assets.

Peter, how would you summarize your thoughts on the future of tokenization for those of our readers who could (couldn’t?) see your session?

We witness, and actively participate in, an advent of the era of an absolute redefinition of financial system. From the way how we exchange money and other assets, to how we deal with investments and, more generally, with a value.

Thanks to digitalization, blockchain and interoperability, our opportunities in this financial sphere are becoming literally unlimited. Though there are substantial risks that must be properly managed at all times.

Exactly. We were hearing loads of benefits at the Crypto Expo, but there must be a dark side too, correct?

Yes, I focused on four kinds of concerns in my key note. There are various concerns to be taken into consideration while entering the market. The primary thing to be considered is that the cryptocurrencies markets are rather young, so some risks might not be properly assessed or even recognized yet.

The other concern is regulation, which is still evolving, and there is insecurity what will be the final prevailing approach by governments and authorities.

We have also discussed a lack of education, and finally, slow technical infrastructure of financial markets, which is also limiting development of the markets of tokenized assets.

What would you highlight at the Dubai Crypto Expo from your point of view?

Our victory, of course! (smiling). Our crypto exchange, BitMarkets, was awarded the Best Crypto Exchange for Customer Service. But, now more seriously, I was really stunned by the atmosphere and vibrant interest of participants. Our booth stand was constantly engaged by visitors.

Congrats! Now, back to your award. It is not that long time ago when we have talked here about BitMarkets exchange launch (link). What’s the secret of such a rapid development?

We live in a world where dynamics in the markets has become one of the defining features of success. I am extremely happy that we were able to follow up with the technology and establish, with our strong team of professionals, the unique customer service system and approach. We have been totally immersed in the BitMarkets takeoff for several months and now we are seeing first results.

What are the features that your clients value most?

Our platform works perfectly well for both retail and professional traders. With features like All-In-One Order Book, Futures 2.0, or Unlimited Referral Program, while being able to execute more than 1 million order requests per second, we can meet an expectation of every trader. I would also point out a fully self-hosted infrastructure and utmost level of security and custody for fiat and crypto assets, which is vital for a crypto exchange that really wants to make a difference and be sought-after in the long run.
