Goldman Sachs bank worsens outlook for US economy for next year

The economic growth of the United States will be slower next year than originally expected. Concerns about a variant of the omicron virus SARS-COV-2, which could hamper the global economic recovery, are to blame.

The US economy will grow more slowly than originally forecast, according to analysts at investment bank Goldman Sachs. The Bank of the world’s strongest economy portends gross domestic product growth of 3.8 percent for 2022, compared with previously estimating a 4.2 percent increase in performance.

‘Although many questions remain unanswered so far, we think a slight slowdown in growth is the most likely. Even if the new coronavirus variant spreads faster and immunity will be weakened slightly,” Joseph Briggs, an economic analyst at Goldman Sachs bank, said according to Reuters.

According to him, the situation in which there is a shortage of people in the labour market may prolong, because workers will not be willing to return to employment quickly due to the omicron variant. It is also said to be excluded that tougher anti-epidemic measures will be re-enacted, which will also contribute to the choice of economic growth.
