Se especula con la creaci\u00f3n de una alianza empresarial (joint venture) con Rio Tinto.<\/span><\/i><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Philip Pascall, Director Ejecutivo de First Quantum inform\u00f3 que la empresa por ahora est\u00e1 evaluando los potenciales socios estrat\u00e9gicos. \u201eEn juego est\u00e1n varias posibilidades y no necesariamente debe tratarse de empresas mineras,\u201c se\u00f1al\u00f3 en una conferencia de prensa celebrada en Londres. Tampoco excluy\u00f3 la posibilidad de una alianza estrat\u00e9gica con la empresa brit\u00e1nica Rio Tinto que opera varias minas de materias primas en todo el mundo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First Quantum Minerals manifiesta un particular inter\u00e9s por la extracci\u00f3n de cobre en Per\u00fa. No obstante, para poder poner en marcha este proyecto necesita invertir entre trey y cuatro mil millones de d\u00f3lares. Las reservas de cobre en las localidades peruanas son relativamente bien accesibles pero ya estaban siendo explotadas en el pasado y por tanto la continuaci\u00f3n de la extracci\u00f3n requerir\u00e1 nuevas inversiones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El problema es que First Quantum tiene deudas relativamente altas. Sus obligaciones han aumentado en una cuarta parte en comparaci\u00f3n con el a\u00f1o pasado, alcanzando 7,6 mil millones de d\u00f3lares. La empresa ya es propietaria de la mina de Haquira en el sur del Per\u00fa, mientras que Rio Tinto explota en el mismo pa\u00eds la mina de La Granja.
